Short Bio

I received my bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Engineering (Ingegneria Informatica e dell’Informazione) at the University of Siena in December 2019.
I am an M.Sc. student in Computer and Automation Engineering at the same university and I am very interested in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

My current research interest is neural-symbolic AI, i.e., integrating symbolic and sub-symbolic methods. Generally speaking, I am interested in addressing the main deep-learning drawbacks, such as the inability to learn with a scarcity of labelled data and the difficulty in explaining the decision process.

The project I am working on for my master’s thesis concerns relational reasoning learning, i.e., enabling machines to reason using prior knowledge and logical rules. Knowledge graph embeddings are used to embed entities and atoms of logical formulas in a learner’s latent space, and the reasoning is performed over those embeddings. My current task is to inject the semantics of first-order logic rules into the latent representation.

I love nature and outdoor sports, and it’s not uncommon for me to go for a hike in the Alps from time to time to enjoy the views and try to stay in shape as much as possible.
